Why did you enjoy traveling to this destination?
French Polynesia is an amazing place. The natural beauty and the people were absolutely fantastic.
I was surprised by the amount of activities you can do. The hiking is fabulous and the snorkeling is the best in the world! The history , the culture, the food, the scenery all make it the perfect get away . A place to really disconnect and relax.
Best time of year to travel here:
The rainy season is December - March , so best to avoid those months if possible. Having said that I was there for a week in December and it rained a few times at night and one afternoon, the rest of the time was sunny!
What tips can you offer someone interested in traveling to this destination?
The main Island of Papeete has some interesting sites and shops. It's worth staying one or two nights. I would recommend that you try a few islands .
I think Moorea is great. The hiking is fabulous and the pearl farms are very cool. Beaches and resorts are amazing. My favorite is the Intercontinental Moorea. You can take a 30 minute ferry from Papeete or an 11 minute flight (shortest flight I have ever been on!). The Hilton in Moorea is also a very special resort. They offer a bar on the middle the pier with over the water bungalows, stopping there for a drink at dusk is a must. Sunsets are amazing and the sharks swim under the dock . A very unique experience.
Taha'a Island is really unique -Le Taha'a Island Resort is super cool. It is one the Motu Tautau facing Bora Bora . . This resort is 5 star and very unique They also offer the option to snorkel thru the Coral Garden - the MOST AMAZING snorkeling I have ever done . The resort and spa are incredible.
Bora Bora - The Four Seasons is , as you would expect....outstanding. The over-the-water bungalows are my personal favorite. The beaches, the food, the service...just the best. If you are looking for an all inclusive experience in Bora Bora I highly recommend Le Meridian. Rally a great resort with a great beach, fun, more upbeat and lots to do, lots of honeymooners and couples. They also have some beach-side villas for families that are the best options I saw for family vacationers. You also have the option to dine and use the spa at the sister hotel, the St Regis next door.....which was my favorite spa in Bora Bora.
If you are looking to get married in Bora Bora, I highly recommend the Inter Continental. They have a wedding chapel with views that are stunning. The best I have seen. The resort only has over-the-water bungalows so it is a very chill vibe.
Is this destination best for families, couples, etc?
Honeymooners or couples looking to get away. I did see some families with small kids.
