We are excited to share some new travel tips, recent adventures, and updates on must-visit destinations.

Mexico City: A Destination for Foodies and Culture Lovers

Our own Lynn Farrell just returned from an amazing trip to Mexico City, and she’s here to tell you all about it. If you haven’t visited Mexico City recently, now’s the time to go!

Mexico City has transformed into a vibrant food hub for those who love to indulge in culinary delights. Whether you’re attending a destination wedding or simply exploring the city, it’s the perfect spot for culture and food enthusiasts.

During her trip, Lynn stayed at the W Hotel in Polanco, one of the best neighborhoods in the city. From the Chapultepec Park to its stunning palace, the views and history are unparalleled. She also enjoyed a walking food tour and discovered that “mole” simply means “sauce” in Mexican cuisine—mind-blowing for anyone who loves guacamole (which means “avocado sauce”)!

Flights from Chicago to Mexico City are non-stop and only take about three and a half hours, making it an excellent weekend getaway. Mexico City is becoming a popular destination for bachelorette and bachelor parties, and flights are filling up!

National Parks: A Natural Escape in the U.S.

Are you more of a nature lover? We want to highlight some great deals for visiting U.S. National Parks. Many parks charge up to $35 per vehicle for a seven-day stay, but there are smart ways to save on entry fees:

  1. America the Beautiful Pass: For $80 annually, you get unlimited entry to national parks with entrance fees. This is perfect for families or those planning multiple park visits.
  2. Senior Pass: U.S. citizens aged 62 and older can get a lifetime pass for just $80 or an annual pass for $20, offering up to a 50% discount on amenities like camping.

These passes are a fantastic way to explore the great outdoors without breaking the bank.

If you’re dreaming of staying in one of those iconic, rustic national park lodges, plan ahead. Many of the best hotels book out a year, or even 18 months, in advance. So, if a national park trip is on your horizon, we recommend booking early for the best experience.

Travel Tips: Airline Updates and Loyalty Programs

Travel news also has us keeping an eye on Spirit Airlines, as rumors swirl about a possible bankruptcy. While nothing is certain yet, it’s always wise to stay updated when booking your next flight.

Additionally, the Department of Transportation is reviewing loyalty programs from four major airlines. As frequent travelers know, redeeming miles can be a complicated process, but change could be on the way to make it easier.
